Forbes recently released their list of the world’s richest people. Their annual list of billionaires is something people look forward to each year, despite the likelihood of them ever joining it is slim to none.

Nevertheless, every year there are new black people joining the list of 1,826 people around the world who are billionaires. 11 of which are black people. This is an increase of two, up from 9 just a year ago, but who are the additions?

michael-jordan-cigarAmerican black people can be proud one of their idols and favorite basketball players has joined the list. Michael Jordan becomes the first black basketball player to grace the list of the world’s richest people. Jordan’s business savvy and willingness to remain silent on social issues facing the black community ensured he would continue to have access and opportunity in the world of white supremacy…..but I will leave my Jordan rant for another day.

Topping the list again is Nigerian cement magnant, Aliko Dangote. He is still the richest black person in the world with an estimated worth of $15.7 billion. He is followed by Saudi-Ethiopian construction business owner Mohammed Al-Amoudi, who is worth $10.8 billion.
