WORD: #1000BlackGirlBooks Founder Gets “Activism For Children Guide” Book Deal

We love this girl and she is making the future look a hell of a lot brighter! On thursday morning Scholastic, the biggest publisher of children’s books in the USA, announced that they are going to be publishing an activism guide for children and teens. This guide will be written by no other than Marley Dais, the founder of the amazing #1000BlackGirlBooks campaign.

Her social activism stemmed from her being tired of reading about “white boys and dogs,” so she started her movement and book drive to colled 1,000 books with black female protagonists.

The viral movement catalogued over 8,000 books so far and Marley and he GrassROOTS Community Foundation she works with have far surpassed their anticipated donations to schools!

With some serious journalistic cred, such as being an Editor in Residence for Elle.com, this young lady is going places!

Bustle.com wrote:

Her book, nonfiction for readers 10+, will be presented as a relatable “keep-it-real” guide. She’ll discuss how kids can make their dreams come true and how they can use their passion to capture the attention of the media and policy makers to change the world. Exploring activism, social justice, volunteerism, equality and inclusion, and social media, with a focus on the importance of literacy and diversity, the book will reflect Dias’ mission to change the world through books.

Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher of children’s books, says that “through her smarts and ingenuity, [Dias] has delivered a jolt of inspiration that’s sent an unstoppable shock-wave to kids everywhere who’ve stood up with Marley to shout ‘Yes!’ to the power of positive action…. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the Scholastic family.”

I honestly cannot wait for this!
