Why Is This White Man Relevant To Black History?

It is not to often that we recognize or celebrate white people during Black History Month. But James Zwerg is worth having the praise. He was one of the Freedom Riders. In 1960, he was on a bus full of Freedom Riders who arrived in Montgomery Alabama where an angry white mob was waiting for them. He volunteered to get off the bus first and take the brunt of the mob’s violence, which left him beaten and bloody.’

Learning history like this lets me know that all white people are not devils. Some actually are human beings with a heart. Of course, that doesn’t mean we lose sight of who we are, our purpose, and our status as the original man on this earth. However, we salute those who fight with us for us when their entire community are enemies of us.
