(VIDEO) Texas Officer Shot Unarmed Black Man Multiple Times BUT Was This Policing Done Right?

On Feb 12th Officer Steven Laughlin, 27, shot an unarmed black man, Calvin Baker, 33. The officer was placed on administrative leave while the investigation was happening.

He was not charged, like so many other cases. However, I just watched the whole bodycam footage and in this case, I actually think it was policing done exactly as it should be. Maybe a taser instead of a gun would be better but it was quite a distance off.

The officer was called by a woman saying her ex was on the property and he should not be there. The officers came and Laughlin tried to calmly interact with Baker who would not take his hand from his right pocket and antagonised the officer.

In my opinion, the officer handled the situation pretty well and even after the shooting was pleading with Baker to comply.

I’m not a big fan of policing in the USA at all and I think huge changes need to be made. However, there are incidences where things are carried out right and in order to be balanced, sometimes we should show these. Baker was released from hospital and is recovering, no charges were filed and the officer is back at work.

Watch below and let me know if you agree.
