The One Thing Common, Pharrell, Raven, & The “New Blacks” Don’t Understand About Racism

I’ve just got to get something off my chest because this “new black” thing is absolutely driving me CRAZY! These clowns really expect us to believe that race relations boil down to black people making a decision to treat people with respect, forget our history and collectively move forward together…GTFOH!

I’m a student of Dr. John Henrik Clarke. If you don’t know who this man is, I’d suggest you do some research on him. He is famous for saying you should NEVER discuss a situation without understanding how it came to be…..basically, know your history, never forget it, and damn sure don’t allow any one to tell you history doesn’t matter because the world you are living in is a direct result of said history. Only a fool would let it go.

Pharrell WilliamsThe concept of the “new black” was born out of an interview Pharrell did with Oprah last summer. He said:

“The New Black doesn’t blame other races for our issues.”

“The New Black dreams and realizes that it’s not pigmentation: it’s a mentality, and it’s either going to work for you or it’s going to work against you. And you’ve got to pick the side you’re going to be on,” Pharrell said.

Common chimed in with his nonsense recently on the Jon Stewart show:

“We all know there’s been some bad history in our country. We know that racism exists,” the star conceded, before adding, “I’m…extending a hand. And I think a lot of generations and different cultures are saying ‘Hey, we want to get past this. We’ve been bullied and we’ve been beat down, but we don’t want it anymore. We’re not extending a fist and saying, ‘Hey, you did us wrong.’ It’s more like ‘Hey, I’m extending my hand in love. Let’s forget about the past as much as we can, and let’s move from where we are now. How can we help each other? Can you try to help us because we’re going to help ourselves, too.’ That’s really where we are right now.”

What the “New Blacks” are missing?

The one thing these “New Blacks” are missing is racism is not an individual thing, but a complete system of repression to maintain the white supremacy ideology.  PERIOD.

These “New Blacks” are talking about getting along on an individual basis, which is fine, but that is defeating bigotry, not racism. I know a lot of fine white people, but even 99.9% of them are not trying to remove the system that continues to oppress, kill, mis-educate, incarcerate, destroy our economics and maintain the status quo.

They might think it is wrong, but they are not spending their days lobbying, protesting, and fighting to remove the “The New Jim Crow”, fighting for black reparations to restore the historical wrongs done to us, getting better funding for our schools and job opportunities for youth so the violence in our communities can be slowed. No, they are not.

I’m not calling them bad people. I’m not calling them racist. It just isn’t in their interest because it doesn’t impact them on a day-to-day basis. We have to do this, but if these entertainment clowns, which so many of our young people look up to, are saying history doesn’t matter and we just need to move along, then where will our future freedom fighters come from?

Pharrell, Common, Raven and the “New Blacks”, please, CHOKE YOURSELVES AND STFU!

Sound Off: What do you think the “New Blacks” are missing?
