Suge Knight Says He Is A NI**A Not An African American, But He Is Not Alone

Here is what you have to understand. This thinking isn’t isolated. A significant portion of blacks here in America feel this way when it comes to our status. Not necessarily wanting to be called the N-Word, but they don’t relate to Africa, nor have any interest in learning more or gaining a relationship with the Motherland.

suge knightThis has to do with our lack of ability to properly educate our children. Maybe instead of lack of ability, it is a lack of willingness or desire to do so. We seem to be so caught up in materialism, jobs, and “grinding” out an existence that we have taken the eye of the community and the bigger picture. We have allowed a generation or two to fall through the cracks. Suge Knight is the poster child for these generations and this line of thinking.

Let me be clear, I find this IGNORANT AND UNACCEPTABLE that a grown ass man would say something this stupid in 2014. Our ancestors and freedom fighters have been through too damn much for this man to be speaking to these white media outlets out the side of his neck. Insenuating that you would rather be called a N-Word in any context is just foolish at best.

On the other hand, he has a point that maybe the term African American isn’t the best for us here in this country. I’m a major fan and student of Dr. Claude Anderson. He says we shouldn’t use the terms black or African American. We should use the term Non-immigrant because we are the only people in this country that were brought here against our will. By doing so will stop everyone else from using legislation and programs aimed at us for their benefit…..but this is getting us a bit off subject.

The point is, maybe the term African American isn’t what is best for us. Not sure how you feel about it, but i’m CERTAIN the N-Word isn’t the solution, but what do you think?

What do you think of Suge Knight & what term should we use to identify ourselves as a people?

Keep up to date with everything going on in the Urban Intellectuals Universe.
