There is nothing like a strong black woman standing up for and encouraging her people. Serenea Williams is not staying quiet about the racial injustices going on in this country and using her platform to encourage those in the daily fight to continue.
Not only is she perhaps the greatest tennis player of all time, male or female, but Serena Williams is compassionate about social issues facing the black community and confident enough to speak out on them regardless of what her white fans might think.
Williams has the honor of being WIRED magazine’s guest editor for Novemember 2015 and has decided to take on race, inequality and support the Black Lives Matter movement taking the country by storm.
“I’m a Black woman, and I am in a sport that wasn’t really meant for Black people,” she said. “So to those of you involved in equality movements like Black Lives Matter, I say this: Keep it up. Don’t let those trolls stop you….
To other people, I say: When someone’s harassing someone else, speak up!”

She continued, “Nothing like Black Girls Code existed when I was growing up. (And I know what it’s like to be interested in a field where the other kids don’t look like you).
”
The tennis champ then went on to say, “But we can keep working even more to increase equality—whether it’s making sure to interview Black candidates for tech jobs or standing up to cyberbullying or making sure that our technology is designed by all kinds of people.”
OUTSTANDING, Serena Williams. UI applauds your courage to speak up on social issues when most of the entertainers and athletes are silent. Stay strong, use your platform and voice to help create the change in the future we all desire.
Sound off: What do you think about Serena’s support of the Black Lives Matter movement and her courage to speak up?
