By now, you should be familiar with what should be the Sandra Bland murder investigation. State Trooper Brian Encinia pulled Bland over for what seemed to be a minor traffic violation, changing lanes without a signal, but three days later she was found dead, hung in her jail cell.
The case has the nation enraged over the treatment of a young black woman, but apparently this doesn’t apply to everyone.
Allegedly, the Houston Chronicle published a cartoon parody of the Sandra Bland incident that lead to her arrest and death. We are still trying to gather confirmation if this is actually in their paper, but who would sketch something like this?
The cartoon depicts Sandra Bland’s funeral hurst being pulled over by the police with the officer saying, “You changed lanes without signalling. She’s going to have to go back to jail.”
After viewing the cartoon, my mouth just fail to the floor.
All I could think was, WTF?
Why?
Who would think this is funny? Thought provoking? or Acceptable?
Apparently, the people at the Houston Chronicle believe this is acceptable.
To be fair, there are those out there discussing the Sandra Bland cartoon who say it is the job of these parodies to provoke thought and conversation, not necessarily be politically correct.
Personally, I believe that is a crock and this is unacceptable, but what do you think?
