On the day before the second commemoration denoting the mass abduction of Nigerian schoolgirls by terrorist aggressors, high school Pakistani lobbyist, Malala Yousafzai gave a public statement reminding the families of the girls, we have not forgotten and are waiting for their family reunions.

Boko Haram kidnapped them and held them in imprisonment.

While more than 50 got away not long after being seized, reports have led us to believe that the remaining young ladies have likely been assaulted, tormented, mentally mishandled and forced to wed, convert to Muslims and hard manual labor.

She asked President Muhammadu Buhari to make more moves to discover and safeguard the young ladies. “Would a president give up the fight for his own daughter?” she asked. “These girls are just as precious to their families.”

With less and less media coverage and less efforts towards locating them, it is an unfortunate fact that most us have forgotten about the abduction of the young girls in Nigeria. Their parents have not forgotten and will never forget. The President feels as though he has made tremendous progress with Boko Haram because their presence seems to be nonexistent but the fact still remains that these girls are still missing and deserve to be reunited with their families.
