When The Man You Love Hurts You

I attended a luncheon with mostly female educators, three students from a high school performed. There were three young ladies and two of them recited original poetry about being in abusive relationships.

When they finished the audience went crazy, They were applauding and gave the young ladies a standing ovation.
I thought d***, am I the only one that think this s*** is f***** up?

When I looked around afterwards, the conversation had changed. There was a discussion about the 70 girls that were pregnant in one high school. That is another conversation for another time.

k-michelle-domestic-violenceNow. there was three beautiful young ladies talking about how their boyfriends kicked their a**** and they loved them. I thought I had gone back to the past. I mean, the real past like the early part of the 20th century,

What the f*** happened that our babies think it is o.k,. to be abused, I know I have missed something. I thought, was I not connected enough to the source. I ‘m in an elementary school with the little ones and they are high school students.

But I had been in high schools and middle schools, but that was about ten years prior. I did not see this d***** trend coming. My question is how did these beautiful young ladies get the message that they should be physically abused by their boyfriends?

My older sister was a beautiful cinnamon colored woman with all of the love she could hold from a close knit community. She married an older man and he kicked her a*** every weekend. Of course, he had to get drunk first.

She was a stay a home mother that had five children in five years. She, at some point thought it was o.k. She left him once a month but always returned to those weekly a** whoopins My family encouraged her to leave. The males in the family threatened this fool but that did not stop him.

My sister divorced him after all the children were grown. I just wanted to know how she got the message that it was o.k. to be abused? The female body is not made for abuse but she never got that message.

It sent me in the other direction in my relationships. I always got that s*** straight upfront. This body cannot take a hit, if you want me to love you, love me.

We are going to give our young ladies the message that they are worthy of all things positive in our new program.
