Reports are saying that Jay Z and the mini-major studio won a “heated bidding war” to adapt two written works about Trayvon Martin’s life and death.
That means that Jay Z and the Weinstein company will be bringing both the works 2014’s “Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It” and January’s “Rest in Power: A Parents’ Story of Love, Injustice, and the Birth of a Movement”.
Suspicious Nation was written buy Lisa Bloom, the journalist who covered Trayvon’s shooting and death for NBC, Rest in Power came from Trayvon’s parents and is a very personal look at the life of a teen that departed this world far too soon.
No timeline details for production have been shared.
