Idris Elba and John Ridley Collaborate in Mini-Series about the Black Power Movement in London

Idris Elba is nothing short of amazing from his role in Beast of No Nation to his role in the HBO Series The Wire, he is truly a talented actor. Now Elba is collaborating with John Ridley, creator of American Crime, to tell a powerful love story that takes place in the United Kingdom during a very tumultuous time in their history. This love story is about a couple “whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London.

” The limited six-part Showtime series entitled Guerrilla will debut in 2017.

Sometimes we are lead to believe that race is only an issue in the United States but this movie will give us a glimpse into the black power movement in the U.K. I wish we could get more than 6 episodes of this story but I’m sure it will be a dynamic series.

There is no word on the role Elba will be playing but I love to see him play the antagonist.

I’ll be patiently waiting for this one.
