Pink Tips With A Purpose – When someone you love dies you can keep them in your heart and cherish their memory or you can keep them in your heat, keep them in your memory and give someone else a chance to live.

DeAngelo Williams a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers has choose the later and will honor his mother, Sandra Hill, by paying for 53 mammograms at hospitals in Pittsburgh, PA and Charlotte, NC per ESPN.com Jeremy Fowler.

DeAngelo’s mother passed away from breast cancer in 2014 at the age of 53 and since her death he has dyed the tips of his hair pink to help raise awareness and importance of getting tested.  The NFL has denied his request to wear pink on the field citing uniform violation but to Williams it’s about raising awareness.

When I first saw DeAngelo Williams on the field I was taken aback by is pink hair and wondered WTH was he thinking and why.

After learning of his why, he’s my new favorite player in the NFL.

So when the Steelers play and you see his pink tips flying behind his helmet as he clutches the football and runs down the field, he knows all eyes are on him and just maybe someone is reminded that they need to get a mammogram and just maybe it could help save their life.
