If you are a Love Jones fan then the good news is that this 1997 classic is likely to hit the road all across America in a city near you. The popular 90s black love story is reportedly headed to the stage to get a musical remake.
This news was announced by MC Lyte, a media personality, businesswoman, and hip-hop icon on her instagram page. She had shared a photo of the upcoming stage play of Love Jones: The Musical over the weekend on her Instagram page. According to the poster, the adaptation is likely to hit theatres in this fall.
The 1997 Love Jones film received favourable critical reviews but had a solid following due to its realistic characters and unconventional take on Romance. The film will be reimagined with the projects original director, Theodore Witcher, as the director and screenwriter.
This will be Theodore Witcher’s second directorial work after his first in the 1997 Love Jones film. However, Nia long and Laurenz Tate will not be taking their roles in this stage adaptation of the classic drama.
It will feature a cast of your R&B music favourites like Chrisette, MC Lyte, Music Soulchild, Dave Hollister, Marsha Ambrosious, and Raheem DeVaughn.
