This week, the President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe reiterated his mandate that all white farmers had to give up their land and leave the country without compensation. Zimbabwe is not a place for white land owners. Period.
According to AllAfrica, Mugabe was speaking at the A1 Model Settlement Tenure Permit, the President’s intentions to rid the country of all white farmers and land owners was clear.
Mugabe said, “There are White farmers who are still on the land and have the protection of some cabinet ministers and politicians as well as traditional leaders.
“I have been given a list of 35 White farmers in Mashonaland West alone and in just a few districts that have been audited. We say no to Whites owning our land and they should go.”
He did not stop there. He went on to let it be known that whites can own companies and businesses in Zimbabwe, but they are not allowed to own the soil, the land. That is reserved for the indigenous people of the land.
Mugabe said, “They can own companies and apartments in our towns and cities but not the soil. It is ours and that message should ring loud and clear in Britain and the United States.”
“We had an agreement with the Margaret Thatcher government and when Tony Blair came he reneged on that agreement. I pleaded with him to review his decision but he was a boy from the street with no experience so he stuck to his guns,” said the veteran leader.
“I was not amused and told him to keep his England and we would keep our Zimbabwe. We will not pay for our land and we will not ask our people to pay for it because they never paid for it in the first place.
“They were selling to each other among themselves, and we will not recognise any of that nonsense. They were living like kings and queens on our land and we chucked them out. Now we want all of it.”
Refusing to reconcile with payment the white land owners is not sitting well with many in the West. However, Mugabe is steadfast in his decision. He feels the land of Africa was unfairly taken by Britain and other whites in the 1890s, using The Land Apportionment Act of 1930 to divide the lands, and manipulated their understanding of land, title, and deeds to dupe the people of Zimbabwe. Therefore, compensation isn’t going to be discussed. All white land owners must leave.
Mugabe came to power in Zimbabwe in the early 1980s. The Lancaster House Agreement in 1980 stated that he couldn’t make any land reform changes for 10 years and he waited, but immediately started to make some changes when the agreement was up. In 2000, Mugabe started the Fast-Track Land Reform Program which rushed to move white farmers off the land without compensation.
In the President’s eyes, something needed to be done because by 1979, whites were 5% of the population in Zimbabwe, but owned 70% of the fertile land in the country.
Not any more, but there are still a few white farmers being protected by politicians and influential people they control with their money, bribes and power, but Mugabe isn’t flinching. They all must go.
What are your thoughts?
Do you think Mugabe is doing the right thing for his people? And how would you feel if you were booted off your land and business because of the President of the country?
Africa is for Africans with menalin not white people. President Mugabe is 1000 times right. It is time for all African leaders to follow in his footsteps and address centuries of injustice at the hands of white people.
They in the west refuse to pay reparation to Africans they enslaved for centuries. They say our fore fathers sold us to them. Well! No body told them to buy so they must pay up. They must get out of Africa period and head back to Europe thats where they belong not in Africa.
May God bless my President to live for many more years till all white people leave Africa for good. Get out you bastards enough is enough.
