Every new business, every new place where the community can feel comfortable is a win! Now Baconton, Georgia has it’s first black owned pharmacy!
Situated at the side of East Walton Street in Baconton, GA is the first Black owned pharmacy. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of Total Care Pharmacy. Dr. Teresa Mitchell said she is excited about her decision to open the first black-owned pharmacy in the Albany, Georgia territory. Dr. Mitchell has twenty years of experience in pharmaceuticals and wanted to do more than just fill prescriptions which led her to becoming the owner of Total Care Pharmacy, which is located only sixteen miles from the city of Albany.
Baconton, Georgia is a small town in Mitchell County, Georgia. Dr. Mitchell has lived there for quite a while and has taught the pharmacy specialist program at Albany Technical College. It has been her dream to one day become a business woman. Could there possibly be a better way to encourage and inspire your community and students than by coming “the first” black owned pharmacy in your community.
Mitchell’s dad empowered her and felt that Baconton would be a great place for her to plant her flag. He thought of it as a center point that would have great development potential. Although her father is no longer with her, she took his advice and has provided her community with a convenient location to fill their prescriptions.
