An Interracial couple are in a fight with the local government who are fining them $100 a day for not removing the word N***ER that is scrawled in huge black graffitied letters across their garage.
You’d think that they would want to remove the horrible mess but they have their valid reasons!
They say this is not the first time that someone in their Connecticut neigborhood has harassed them and that they left the graffiti there (since Jan 14.) until the authorities step up and do something about it. Until the police find the people harassing them.
Heather Lindsay, a white woman who is common-law married to her black husband Lexene Charles, told the Stamford Advocate:
“[Authorities should] not just cover it up and sweep it under the table as they have done in the past,” Lindsay told the local news site.
And Darnell Crosland, from the Connecticut NAACP, told ABC 7 during a press conference on Monday:
“We think the police should open up a live investigation, and that means they should interview people,”
“They should create a police report, and they should have a case number. I don’t even know if this situation has a case number yet, and I think that is an affront to all of us,”
The city and police said that they have been unable to find witnesses or any evidence and are investigating.
