The New York Times that the Justice Department will not be charging the two officers involved in the fatal shooting of Alton Sterling.
Alton was shot dead last July in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when he was pinned to the ground by the arresting officers.
Police had responded to a call about a man selling CDs outside a convenience store and the caller alleged he was threatening them with a gun. Many people recorded the shooting on cell phones sparking protests and Obama’s administration to call for a high profile investigation.
Sterling was shot multiple times BUT the owner of the store Abdul Muflahi said that Sterling did not have a gun in his hand. Police were alleged to have pulled the gun from his pocket, as Louisiana is an open carry state this was not illegal.
