For the past 26 years Akwete Tyehimba united with her late husband Bandele Tyehimba stood out as heroes to keep Pan African Connection alive. After the passing on of her husband in February 2012, Akwete mourned him while gaining the power of her strength as a superhero. Even after the relocation of the store, she has made sure that whatever they started together with Bandale did not stop due to his death, but instead she takes the centre for culture and resources to the next level.

A great number of people from different parts of the world often visit Pan African Connection to learn more about African history and culture and also get the opportunity to purchase rich collections of cultural artifacts such as books about the black experience, African clothes, prints, jewelry and many resources that the shop offers.
