[Reporting For Team News One]
This could have been just another holiday family function gone wrong. 10 O’clock on Memorial Day evening, Carlos Wynn the victim, went to a distant relatives home where his wife Ashley Miller was visiting, moments after his arrival he was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the shooter, Jamarcus Callaway was detained on outstanding warrants unrelated to this shooting.
Even though the local authorities report this as the 1st deadly shooting in nearly 10-years, the victim himself has a lengthy criminal history involving fire arms. Neighbors near to the scene of the shooting also later reported increased police activities at this home, “I kind of stay inside, and mind my business, but you can see the activities and police cars always coming when he’s around”.
Despite the obvious assumptions, the family of Carlos Wynn is crying foul against the local authorities and Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). Local law enforcement agencies around the nation have a long storied yet controversial history of using confidential informants. Most of the complaints come from CI’s (confidential informants) who feel their rights where being violated in their attempt to help the police and then their is the violation of the street life culture of being a snitch, costing some CI’s their life after they had outlived their usefulness to the police. While there is no evidence that Jamarcus Callaway, the shooter, is a CI, the rapid investigation, fast release and statement from the police of “no charges filed” all before an autopsy, leads one to believe there is more to this murder then what has been reported. The victims sister, Taneka Brunson, wants more answers. Where is the gun her brother was alleged to have when he went to the Callaway home? Have all the witnesses made a statement and are there witness who are not coming forward because of fear and intimidation? Brunson acknowledges the distant family connection between Wynn and Callaway stating, they were not close but they were not enemies either.
The big question here is, “Did Callaway get away with murder because of his value to law enforcement?”
