As MANY knife-wielding people are, this man was clearly distressed. The police officer used his training to realize this was a man who was going to need help. Rather than grabbing his gun, he calmed the man down, showing understanding and empathy until the man handed over his knife and then he went in for a hug.

The knife wielding “maniac” was upset because he started a job recently and had not been paid for three days, he was also a musician and had said his guitar had been stolen recently. He was poor and at the end of his tether. The office saw that and said he would give him a guitar, calmed him and showed care.

THIS is exactly what an officer should be doing, THIS is what training is for. The gun was there at every stage of the issue just in case it was needed.

Of course, you guessed it already, this happened in another country NOT USA, it was in Thailand.

The man was sent for evaluation and mental health help. Let’s hope he gets the help he obviously needs.
