In the current climate of America, blatant racism has made it’s way to mainstream culture. It’s fashionable to be a facist. It’s booming to be a bigot. Black people have to be on high alert in this climate as white supremacists are are emboldened to commit violent acts against us. We are always on high alert for police. There are so many that subscribe to bigoted ideologies. The defense is always that you don’t know if they truly are racist. How do we really know that police officers target black people? Well, this next story is pretty good evidence that black people are walking with a huge target on our backs!

Atlanta news affiliate WSBTV got exclusive dash-cam footage of an officer plainly saying that the white woman that he pulled over shouldn’t be scared because the police “only shoot black people”. The woman was afraid to move her hands when the officer instructed that she do so during the traffic stop. She explicitly said that she was afraid that he would shoot her if she motioned to get her phone, seeing videos of it happening before. That response prompted the officer to say, “But you’re not black. Remember, we only kill black people. Yeah, we only kill black people, right? All the videos you’ve seen, have you seen black people get killed? You have.”

The woman was clearly uncomfortable with what he’d said but he continued on making light of the fact that people of color are disproportionately shot by police officers. The numbers are astonishing. Yet, he wants to make jokes about the situation. According to reports, this dashcam video came out in 2016 but that doesn’t mean that this makes this incident less egregious. It’s being reported that the police officer in question Lt. Greg Abbott has since been fired. Why’d it take so long for that to happen? This video has been under wraps since 2016. I’m just saying!
