Like the next person, I enjoy comedy. In fact, I think it is important for Africans in America to laugh from time to time. We need to take the stress out of our lives, if only for a moment.
However, yesterday, “comedian” Steve Harvey might have just gone too far.
He set social media ablaze with his ‘jokes’ following the loss of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA finals to the Golden State Warriors.
Apparently, Harvey is a huge Cavs fan after living in Ohio for a while. He took a call on his ‘Steve Harvey Morning Show’ on the radio from a Flint, MI resident who said the Cavs didn’t “deserve jack.
”
Thankfully, someone was able to record the fallout from the discussion and we have it here below for you to listen and chime in with your opinion.
Harvey didn’t appreciate the comment and began making references to the Flint resident not having access to clean water to shower due to the poisoning of the city’s water. Obviously, a lot of people are suffering as a result of this crisis and feel Harvey shouldn’t be joking about it.
Harvey’s co-host can be heard telling him to apologize, stop and let him know that he has crossed the line here with this joke. However, Harvey doubled down during the verbal interaction.
“I wasn’t talking about the city of Flint,” Harvey told his co-hosts, “I was talking about him.”
Harvey continued on to say, “He gone call in and say Cleveland don’t deserve jack and he over their bathing in all that silver water.”
The caller was still on the line at this point and told Harvey he was Dee from Flinttown.
Before taking the next caller Harvey told the caller there was “one more thing.”
“Go ahead,” the caller said.
“Enjoy your nice brown glass of water,” Harvey said.
Again, I enjoy comedy like the next person, however, do you think Harvey crossed a line here?
I do. It’s official in my eyes. Steve Harvey is a clown and I want nothing to do with him.
