Anthony Bourdain’s Houston stop off for his Parts Unknown series was a huge hit. The way it showed Houston, in a way not normally depicted on TV was praised and people thought it was genuinely one of the best yet.
Bordain was the reason this episode was so good. He knew that Houston had more under it’s shell than cowboy hats and ranches so he apparently told producers “No white people,” according to a New Yorker magazine profile.
Not one of Houston’s celebrity chefs snuck into the episode and Bordain didn’t want them on. He wanted to find a deeper understanding of the city and told New Yorker he wanted to show Houston “as a Vietnamese and Central American and African and Indian place.

Have you seen the episode? For the first time ever, it made me want to goto Houston!
