As the Angela Davis bioptic gains momentum and producers the awesome Forest Whitaker has signed up to join that list!

So far we know the movie will be Executive produced by Davis, Sidra Smith and Codeblack Enterprises CEO Jeff Clanagan.

And then there is Forest’s credit as a producer in a movie that is somewhat close to home! Growing up in Compton Forest remembers the Panthers in a positive light. He recalled in a 2013 The Guardian article

“My memory of the Panthers, for instance, is very different from most people’s because as a kid I remember them on my street, and how nice they treated me,… Free breakfast program, free schools, outreach and community work, gang members working hand in hand, Crips and Bloods.”

“They invited me to go get breakfast every day,… Then there’s the other great divide going on again because my mom’s like: ‘Oh, you’re not going there, nuh-uh.’”

Forest also has production credits Roxanne Shanté’s upcoming biopic and on “Fruitvale Station” from last year.
