Speaking from experience we do not work together. I have tried to collaborate with some of my people and they either tried to take my ideas and make it their own or intentionally not support me. I just kept it moving and thankfully did not dwell on it but I will never forget.
Of course we all are not like this but we have to work harder at supporting each other despite the fact that it should come naturally.
Most businesses fail within the first 1 to 3 years. But when you look at black-owned businesses their failure rate is significantly higher. There is an 80% chance that a black-owned business will fail in the first year. We have a trillion dollar buying power yet black-owned businesses have difficulty surviving. We will break our necks to pay $500 for a Michael Kors purse even though this man said black people purchasing his products decreases the value of his products. But for appearances we have to prove to other we can afford MK. But on the other hand your home girl is selling purses for $100 and you tell her, her prices are way too high, she need to cut it.
Stop giving your money to people who are so bold to tell you they don’t want it. Stop giving your money to people who follow you around the store and treat you like a common criminal.
Start supporting black businesses without asking for a discount. Start supporting black businesses without counting their money and worrying about what kind of car the owner drives.
Start supporting businesses that will pour back into your community. We have to support each other!
