After leaving a meeting with Governor Rauner, disappointed and frustrated Chicago native Chance the Rapper took matters into his own hands. Today he donated Million of his own money to Chicago Public Schools because Rauner will not relinquish funding but Chance swooped in and saved the day.

Friday after meeting with the Governor he did say he’s not a politician but felt he had to do his part to urge Rauner to stop hurting the kids with politics.

We understand the important role school plays in the lives of our children and to the games must stop.

Chance said his $1 million donation is a “call to action” for businesses in Chicago and across the country to also donate to Chicago Public Schools. To donate or learn more about Chance’s fundraising efforts, you can go to socialworkschi.org. Rauner in a billionaire, let’s see if he’ll match Chance’s million. I won’t hold my breath.

“I wanted to make this donation to the Chicago Public Schools Foundation to help cultivate Chicago creative minds,” Chance said at a news conference. “I’m committed to helping Chicago’s children have quality learning experiences that includes the arts.”

Chance will help push us in the right direction. I hope people are paying close attention, we can’t wait for politicians to save our kids, communities, and schools, we have to do it ourselves.

Keep up to date with everything going on in the Urban Intellectuals Universe.
