George W. Bush Discusses His Affection for Michelle Obama: ‘We Just Took to Each Other’

Some of us were taken back by how smitten former President George W. Bush was for Former First Lady Michelle Obama. With a simple Google search you can find a few pictures of Bush boyishly smiling at our former First Lady. With pictures many jokes and memes followed but the Bush has taken genuine liking to Mrs. Obama.

It threw many of off track a bit especially following Kanye’s infamous statement on live TV, “George Bush does not like black people.” Some of us were scratching our heads thinking…I won’t go there. Bush recently did an interview with People to promote his first art book and new exhibit, Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors which is a collection of his paintings of post-9/11 war veterans. During this interview he discussed his feelings for Mrs. Obama:

“She kind of likes my sense of humor. Anybody who likes my sense of humor, I immediately like,” says Bush. “I can’t remember where else I’ve sat next to her, but I probably have a few wise cracks and she seemed to like it okay. I needle her a little bit and around her, I’m fairly lighthearted. [The Obamas] are around serious people all the time and we just took to each other.”

He knows the pressures that come with being President of the United States and is light hearted when with the Obamas because you need someone to make you smile every once in a while. But I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I think he has crush on our former FLOTUS. And the side eye from his wife at last year’s Memorial service for Texas police officers said it all.
