Black Guns Matter: “An Armed Society is a Polite Society”

Many individuals have trouble understanding the importance of owning a gun, which is why Maj Toure has made it his mission to travel across the United States and educate black Americans about guns. Maj Toure is the founder of Black Guns Matter, a pro-gun organization. He believes he can decrease inner-city violence by giving people access to legal firearms and educating them on how to legally defend themselves.

While talking to a group about protecting themselves he posed a question.

“If somebody comes in here right now, and nobody in here is strapped and they just wanted to start picking us off Dylan Roof style, what you gon do?

Pray? You gon get shot.” Some may disagree but that’s real, if more people carried guns, people would think twice before they rolled up on people. They would consider what would happen if the person they were targeting had a pistol, they would consider being 6 feet under if things didn’t go as planned.

“People have a misconception that, because we’re from an urban environment, that somehow that means that if firearms are around, we’re gonna to just be killing each other.” He is educating us on our Second Amendment rights.

I believe his ideology can work if people are willing to listen because at the end of the day, if you can’t protect yourself, just a sitting a duck. Educating people on how to properly protect themselves is not extreme considering the times we live in.
