WORD: A Nigerian Prof Just Solved A 156-Year-Old Math Problem (And May Win $1million)!

For 156 years this math problem has baffled scholars from all over the world. Now, it seems, one Nigerian Professor has solved the problem…. And if verified he will be a rich man!

Dr Opeyemi Enoch is a teacher at the Federal University in the city of Oye Ekiti.

The Riemann Hypothesis is a mathematical problem that was first proposed by German mathematician Bernhard Riemann in 1859 And Enoch has created a formula and thinks he has found the solution. This was no small task, as you can imagine!

This problem is one of the seven ‘millennium problems’ proposed by the Clay Mathematics Institute in 2000 and as of now only one has been solved.

Grigori Perelman solved that in 2010, declining the award and his million dollars prize money!

Enoch’s uni released a statement saying

‘Dr Enoch first investigated and then established the claims of Riemann.

‘He went on to consider and to correct the misconceptions that were communicated by mathematicians in the past generations, thus paving way for his solutions and proofs to be established.

‘He also showed how other problems of this kind can be formulated and obtained the matrix that Hilbert and Poly predicted will give these undiscovered solutions. He revealed how these solutions are applicable in cryptography, quantum information science and in quantum computers.’

Now his solution needs to be rigourously verified by several mathamaticians!

We are rooting for him!
