Chance The Rapper Is First Black Hip-Hop Artist To Win New Artist Grammy Since 1999!

Independent Rapper, Chance The Rapper, has been making big waves in hip hop and that was recognised on Sunday night when he was presented the Grammy for Best New Artist at the awards ceremony.

Presented by Jenifer Lopez, Chance came to the stage obviously over the moon and dug straight into thanking the two men on stage with him who helped him stay Independent, as well as God!

The Chicago Rapper also broke a long drought, he is the first black hip-hop artist to win in this category since Lauryn Hill back in 1999, that’s coming up for two decades and says something about the state of awards show. There have been a slew of worthy artists over these years!

Chance has stayed Independent since he first started back in 2012.
