U.S. Veterans Kneel Before Natives And Ask For Forgiveness At Standing Rock

One thing you will never see my write is that all white people are bad. I truly believe that some are good people with good hearts. To see white veterans tell the truth about the history of this country is refreshing and needed. This country will never progress until it admits the ravage it has put on black people and native americans.

An incredible moment of healing at Standing Rock: Hundreds of veterans ask Native elders for forgiveness.

“We fought you. We took your land. We signed treaties that we broke. We stole minerals from your sacred hills. We blasted the faces of our presidents onto your sacred mountain… We didn’t respect you, we polluted your Earth, we’ve hurt you in so many ways but we’ve come to say that we are sorry. We are at your service and we beg for your forgiveness.” -Wes Clark, Jr.

Where does America go from here? Well, time will tell. But this is a good start. And yes, the government should have stepped in a lot sooner. But hey, this is still Amerikkka.
