Fashion Forward Dewayne Wade To Start A Neck Wear Line With Tie Rack

The NBA is home of some of the fashion conscious people in the world and Dwayne Wade is definitely in this group. Although some of his style is questionable in my book, he no doubt takes chances and is taking one on his business acumen.

The 3 time NBA champion is partnering with  a firm out of Naperville, IL, Tie Rack. Would have been great to see Wade partner with someone in the South Suburbs of Chicago in the area where he grew up, Robins, IL, but no one is perfect I guess.

dwadeThe new collection will be called “The Gentleman by Dwyane Wade.”

From Crain’s Chicago Business:

“The Gentleman by Dwyane Wade” collection, which will be a collaboration of Mr. Wade’s personal design team and the Tie Bar designers, will include about 30 bow ties, 15 neckties, 15 pocket squares, tie bars and cufflinks.

The new line will be available online only at TheTieBar.com starting in November, with revenue split between the NBA star and the company.

“Partnering with Dwyane was a no-brainer for us,” said Tie Bar CEO Anand Shah, who joined the company this year after three years as CEO of Chicago-based Threadless. “He is a trailblazer on and off the court, particularly in the way he expresses style.”

At a time when Black Owned Businesses seem to be dying off at a rapid rate, it is good to see the likes of Wade and other superstar athletes pushing the envelop. The next generation is watching their every move and the constant stream of athletes opening businesses will hopefully inspire our youth to take control of their own destiny.
