Nairobi- African politicians, businessmen and other development units assured investment of further $30 billion dollars (U.S) to enhance employment through investment and by raising production in small level farming in the African agriculture in a step by step process over the next decade.
This decision taken at the Nairobi, Kenya in the meeting held by Green Revolution Forum, is being considered as the biggest investment plan made in the African agricultural history.
The 6th [AGRF] African Green Revolutionary Forum witnessed this historic-plan in its official opening which was attended by 1,500 important personalities coming from 40 countries participating in the discussion of finding new paths for agricultural development.
It is the starting step of the initiative taken by “Seize the Moment” campaign that had been mentored by the African Union Commission, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), (AGRA) Alliance for a Green Revolutionary in Africa and important NGOs, supporting countries and companies.
“Seize the Moment” is a campaign that accepts- African countries still have a lot of roads to cover before attaining a significant development and to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the UN.
This event stimulates the much needed political and financial steps for the agriculture of Africa.
Goal: Creation of new avenues for the 70% people of African who depends on agricultural work and facing poverty and malnutrition.
Paul Kagame- President of Rwandan Uhuru Kenyatta- President of Kenya inaugurated the AGRA (2016) by clearly defining the decisive role that agricultural development must play in the Kenya and rest of Africa.
