JOHNNY’S SHOES CHICAGO: FESTIVITIES BEGIN IN OCTOBER CHICAGO’S SOUTH SIDE FILMMAKER CREATES AN INSPIRING EVENT

An epic combination of art, social justice, and fun will kick off on October 1st. Johnny’s Shoes Chicago has scheduled a big evening with an event that will include a screening of the thriller movie Johnny’s Shoes and a panel discussion regarding race, violence, and police culture.

The theme of the panel will be: Transforming the Relationship between the African-American Community and the Chicago Police Department, with the larger framework being, creating a new context for what it is to be a human being.

Created by Chicago’s South Side Filmmaker, Otis Dominique, the film is about a 16-year-old sneakerhead selling a rare pair of shoes to take his terminally ill mother on her dream trip to a Kenyan safari.

When he finally meets up with a mysterious online buyer, what should be a simple shoe transaction, turns into a fight for his life. Johnny’s Shoes will be his is first script to screen as a writer and co-directorial debut.

Dominique, an actor, writer, and director, is also a lawyer and has served his community for almost 10 years at his own criminal defense practice. With extensive training in personal growth and development of human beings, he hopes to inject a new perspective to the issue of race, violence, and police culture.

Thought leaders, creatives and influencers will converge for an evening of entertainment, groundbreaking conversations and constructive dialogue.
