Tracee Ellis Ross, The First Black Woman in 30 Years to Receive Best Comedy Actress Emmy Nomination!

30 years ago, in 1986 Phylicia Rashad was nominated for an Emmy, an Emmy for “Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy Series”. Since then, no black woman has been nominated for the best comedy actress Emmy, until now!

Dr. Rainbow “Bow” Johnson, on ABC’s black-ish is hilarious, we can agree! And it’s the character that has gained Tracee Ellis Ross the nomination. Sunday is the day we will find out if she wins!

Ross spoke to ABC about the situations saying:

“At this age, at this point in my career, to be a first-time nominee is extraordinary. To be nominated on behalf of a show that I am so proud of,

“I have not yet gotten married or had a baby, and this is pretty up there on the list.

“This whole other layer of the historical aspect is mind-boggling to me,” Ross added. “It adds a whole other layer to this that is extraordinary and wonderful.”
