So, Will Smith say’s he has talked with the POTUS and has been given thumbs up to portray him in a future bioptic! Will Smith, on screen, as President Obama! Not totally sure that’ll work but then again I had reservations about Ali!

And from the Pres’s perspective, who wouldn’t want to see Smith have a go at playing them in a movie :).

Smith was on Late Night With Colbert where he reported that he had talked with the Pres and about playing him in a possible bioptic. He said:

“We’ve talked about it a couple of times and he said the one thing that’s for sure is I have the ears to play him,”

He also joked that he had missed out on the opportunity to be the first black president and that:

“I was thinking about it but, you know, I watched Obama for the last eight years. That’s a hard job,” he went onto say “I definitely have had the itching. I have lots of views and ideas and sometimes I hear people say things on television and I just want to run against them. Just straight at ‘em and knock ‘em over. But I think it’s not where my greatest gifts are.”

Before Smith gets his teeth (and ears) into the role though Parker Sawyers is playing Barack alongside Tika Sumpter as Michelle in the movie Southside with You, a romantic drama about the pair.
