When we hear of nutrition, cookbooks, and making healthy food choices, we expect to see an expert nutritionist or chef advising us. It is highly unlikely that they are just 12 years old.
Meet Shiona, Shi, who at just 12 years old has become a motivation for children to make healthy food choices.
Inspired by her parent’s emphasis on healthy eating, and her own interest in cooking, she has penned a cookbook, “S.N.A.C it up! Cookbook: Shi’s Natural Approach to Cooking”.
Shi makes ‘unappealing foods’ like broccoli and Brussel sprouts ‘SNACalicious’. In the book, all her spices and ingredients are natural. The recipes are easy to prepare, too.
In addition, Shi educates children on the advantages of choosing healthy foods and affirmations. Her parents used affirmations to help her adapt to a diet of natural foods. Ultimately, making healthy food choices became easier for her.
Her passion and interest in cooking go back to when she was just 4. She would read any cookbook she came across and watch a lot of cooking shows.
Young Shi holds seminars and workshops to teach children why it is important to eat healthily and think positively with regard to natural, healthy foods. She highlights that childhood obesity culminates into diabetes. Some of her programs include: “S.H.A.R.E.W.I.T.H”, “Toby’s War on “S.N.A.C”, “Think Inside the Lunchbox”, and “Sweet Life on S.N.A.C”. She also runs a School DVD Curriculum.
