Multi-platinum selling artist Justin Bieber was reportedly offered an immense amount of million to perform at last week’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
Equally surprising as the payment offered is Bieber’s decline to perform at the event, a decision TMZ reports was driven by NBA player and Cleveland native, LeBron James.
The terms of the performance were initially presented to the singer as non political.
The Republican National Convention’s promoter also informed Bieber that LeBron would be in attendance perhaps to bolster the singer’s chances of accepting the offer. This claim turned out to be completely false and led to James actually urging Bieber to decline the offer to perform.
Bieber’s long time manager and avid Hillary Clinton supporter, Scooter Braun, suggested that Black Lives Matter banners be hung throughout the arena during the performance, a request that was later declined by the RNC’s promoter. Braun stood firm in his political beliefs telling his client that he would quit if he performed at the event and accepted these terms.
Justin Bieber then declined, an undeniably noble decision considering the amount he was offered.
