This morning, a lone gunman fired rounds at Baton Rouge police officers, killing 3 and injuring 7.

Among the three slain was Officer Montrell Jackson who just welcomed his first child into the world. A GoFundMe account was started around 3pm today  by Melissa Rose Kankov, a Baton Rouge resident who describes Officer Jackson as a hero in the community and seeks to “assist Montrell’s family financially during this time of mourning”.

The outpouring of support in such a small length of time proves that all of us, as one, can accomplish a great deal even in times of great tragedy.
