A body was found hanging from a tree in Piedmont Park, Atlanta, just before 5am on 7th July has been identified as a 22 year-old man from New Jersey.
The death has officially been ruled consistent with suicide with no foul play or struggle.
However, in light of recent events, and with good reason, many have questioned the official statement and are citing possible links to alleged KKK activity in the area.
Many took to Twitter to say a KKK rally took place or that the KKK were handing out flyers the previous evening in the area.
Claims that a white supremacist named Sam Hyde was being suspected of the murder seem false.
At this exact point all the claims regarding the KKK are seeming hard to verify.
Of course that doesn’t mean that we should not question this.
The trouble recently means that everything should be questioned and this death should not be allowed to fade away until it’s certain that it was not foul play.
It’s also being reported that his final Facebook post was “I see y’all in the next Life… Deadass ?✌️ Father forgive me”
And some are saying that he was “gay-shamed” which may have led to the suicide.
Our thoughts are with the man’s family.
It’s dangerous out there right now in a lot of ways. We need to question everything but also be careful of sources and points of information. Hate spreading, misinformation and diversion tactics are causing issues but with a bit of care we can try and keep to the truths and get through things the way we should.
