With every network pushing to compete with the biggest names in late night television, it was only a matter of time before VH1 stepped up to the plate.

Starting on July 17, you can expect to see CNN commentator and BET News host Marc Lamont Hill at the helm of VH1’s latest project entitled VH1 Live!, Viacom’s latest addition to their lineup of fresh 2016 content.

According to a press release from VH1, Marc Lamont Hill will serve as the late night talk show’s host, driving the program to focus on pop culture, sports, and current events with what VH1 calls, “equal parts unfiltered wit and raw street savvy”.

Along with providing a fresh commentary on current events through the lens of Hill, the late night show has plans to further incorporate the audience and social media into the program, and will feature guest stars from other popular VH1 shows as well as numerous other parent company Viacom shows as well, according to VH1.

VH1 parent company Viacom ordered the weekly late night series VH1 Live! to the list as one of several moves to add new and fresh content to the network.

Following at the heels of The Amber Rose Show, Marc Lamont Hill is the latest addition to the lineup in televisions current blow up of late night talk shows.

VH1 Live! With Marc Lamont Hill will air on VH1 on Sunday, July 17, 10/9c.
