African women continue to be discriminated against due to male-dominated societies that prefer that their women stay home and take care of children.
In fact, many African communities still do not believe in women empowerment. Even with all the challenges, though, women in Africa have become major contributors to the continent’s growth and success.
Here are five of the continent’s most-successful businesswomen.
Media Tycoon
Khanyi Dholomo is a successful businesswoman operating out of South Africa. As the owner of Ndalo Media, a media house, she publishes popular magazines, such as Destiny Magazine and Destiny Man. The 41-year-old entrepreneur also runs other successful business ventures, including Ndalo Luxury Ventures and Luminance Boutique Store.
Ndidi Nwuneli, Nigeria
Social Entrepreneur
Ndidi Mwuneli runs nonprofit organization LEAP Africa, which offers corporate coaching services to small and medium enterprises.
