Friday, June 10, 2016 Muhammad Ali was laid to rest in Louisville, Kentucky. His pallbearers included family and friends as well as Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, and Will Smith. Muhammad Ali was so much more than just boxer, his legacy will live on for eternity. Most people know the slick talking boxing legend and radical that was not afraid stand up and speak against bigotry and racism that plagued the United States.

What most people don’t know about the GOAT is he met Saddam Hussain and freed 15 hostages.

This man has achieved the unimaginable time and time again.

No one in the world can say they stood face to face with a ruthless dictator and convinced him to free hostages without incident, well one man can.

Most people like to focus on the fact that Ali refused to enlist in the U.S. Army but never mention the fact that he saved 15 innocent prisoners being held by Saddam Hussain to keep the United States military for attacking his country. This is so much important and inspirational than to the United States’ history.

But what’s even more inspirational is Ali had absolutely nothing to gain from heroic act. He had not boxed in years due to his diagnoses with Parkinson’s disease. The U.S. hoped that his popularity would help to prevent a war. Unfortunately shortly after Ali and hostages made it safely back to the U.S., the U.S. Army bombed Iraq.

Muhammad Ali has an amazing legacy that not only his family can be proud the entire African American community can be proud of. We have truly lost the Greastest. Rest well, to the Greatest Of All Time!
