RESPECT: Homeless Teen Girl Graduates As A Valedictorian… BUT IT GET’S BETTER… Find Out What’s Up Next For Her!!

I’m sitting here day after day hearing about amazing young people, knowing that I never have an excuse to fail. Chelesa Fearce is yet another one of those inspirational young people who show me the way.

Chelesa has had it tough. She has been living mostly in her Mom’s car and shelters but she tough it through, has just graduated high school and will be heading to college. What a fine young woman!

“I just told myself to keep working, because the future will not be like this anymore,” Fearce said. “You’re worried about your home life and then worried at school. Worry about being a little hungry sometimes, go hungry sometimes. You just have to deal with is. You eat what you can, when you can.”

Her mother’s lay-offs led to the tough times for the family. Reenita Shephard said that they:

“Ended up back in another shelter because I got laid off from my job maybe about four or five times,”

And that:

“I just did what I had to do,”

She also says that “I read to them a lot. Everything was a learning experience,”, so despite the tough times she kept the kids pushing forward.

Chelesa from achieved a 4.466 GPA and a 1900 SAT score. She has graduated as a Valedictorian and she even managed to enrol for college, Spellman, no less. She will be starting in the fall as a junior.

And to make thngs even more awesome her sister is graduating from George Washington Carver High School as a salutatorian.

Just think what these girls could do if they could just find the support to stabilise their life? We are sure Mom is doing the best she can but hopefully things will look up very soon.

We are rooting for you Chelsea and Sis!

RESPECT!
