Actor Omari Hardwick, who played ‘Ghost’ on Power and ‘Andre’ on Being Mary Jane has a story to tell. At 42 with a very promising career in Hollywood, the actor recalls of the his rough journey to success.
Most people believe celebrities have an easy road to their success, but it is often littered with turmoil and trouble.
Hardwick met John David, Denzel Washington’s son, as he(Omari), was working as a football coach in a high school.
He was also a substitute teacher, he said in an interview with Loni Love.
Omari had just moved to Hollywood and that is how he started rubbing shoulders with the Washington’s.
Omari recalls that he was once homeless and had to sleep in the car after turning down a stable job with the fire department for a project that flopped. It did not end there, he couldn’t pay for his car and it was almost reclaimed, but Pauletta and Denzel came to his rescue and bailed him out by paying the car off and allow him to stay with their family.
As the saying goes, a light of a candle doesn’t go off by lighting another candle. Omar is forever grateful that his path and that of Denzel’s crossed.
