The Lima, Ohio Fugitive, Donald “chip” Pugh, who did not like his mugshot and sent in a Selfie to the police to change his mugshot on Facebook, has been arrested in Florida on the 12. of January 2016.

The 45 year old Ohio Fugitive made News headlines and went viral early January when after he failed to show up for court and questioning on multiple cases including arson and vandalism, and the Lima, Ohio police department posted a mugshot of him on their Facebook page on January 6. He saw the photo and did not like it, so he sent in a “Selfie” to the Police where he wore a suit, and sat in a car with a sunroof, with the caption “Here is a better photo that one is horrible”.

Selfie arrestThe Lima Police department posted the new picture on their Facebook page, with the caption “This photo was sent to us by Mr. Pugh himself, we thank (Pugh) for being helpful, but now we would appreciate it if he would come speak to us at the (police station) about his charges.”. The mugshot post then went viral on social media.

On January 12, Donald Pugh was arrested in Florida. According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, someone had tipped them off regarding his location.

After his arrest, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office made a Facebook Post with the Hashtag #thanksfortheselfie with Donald Pugh’s new Mugshot and the lines “How’s this photo Donald Pugh? Maybe that Selfie helped people identify you better?”

The Lima, Ohio Police Department, in a statement released on their Facebook Page, thanked the local Police in Florida for helping in the arrest of Donald Pugh, with credits for his arrest to “the power of social media and tips called in to authorities”

The Facebook Page of the Lima, Ohio Police Department is full of comments from people all over who express their utter disbelief at the behaviour of the Fugitive who helped Police find himself by sending in a better Mugshot. While interviewed by a radio station, Pugh had stated:”Man, they just did me wrong.

They put a picture that made me look like I was a Thundercats or something.”. He further stated that he decided not to show up for his scheduled Court appearances, after having been released by Police.
