This is quite exciting, in 2016 a Smithsonian Museum Dedicated To African American History And Culture is opening it’s doors.
It’s been a long time coming but the place sets to educate, remember and celebrate an extremely important part of American history.
Located at 1400 Constitution Ave., NW in Washington, D.C., the museum is set to open before the New Year!
As soon as I find myself in D.C. I will be visiting.
The website says:
the NMAAHC “will be a place where all Americans can learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience, what it means to their lives and how it helped us shape this nation. A place that transcends the boundaries of race and culture that divide us, and becomes a lens into a story that unites us all.
”
And
“It should be a beacon that reminds us of what we were; what challenges we still face; and point us towards what we can become.”
