Along with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka the project was launched on Tuesday. Help with union entrance exams and gaining apprenticeships through plumbing, carpentry and laborer unions will be provided.

In a partnership with O’Neal Boraie Development is building a 169-unit luxury high-rise apartment block and the program aims to connect local residents with the needed training and jobs so they can work on this project.

Shaq will reportedly take the top floor of the building when it’s ready!

Although the project seems to be somewhat for Shaq’s own gain it’s still great he is creating opportunities and jobs in his native town.
