Attorney General Loretta Lynch Announces DOJ Probe of Chicago Police Department | About Time!

The calls of many in the community and in the political space for the Department of Justice to look into the history, actions and procedures of the Chicago police department have been answered, finally.

Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch announced yesterday the DOJ will in fact probe the Chicago police department, actions many believe should have been done years or decades ago, but will take it now.

The “pattern-and-practice” probe, as it’s known, will focus on use of force, deadly force, accountability and how the Chicago Police Department “tracks and treats” those incidents, Lynch said during a prepared statement.

Loretta LynchIt took the outrage of the police murder of Laquan McDonald to generate enough political and social concern to draw the federal investigation. McDonald was gunned down by Officer Jason Van Dyke, 16 times despite video showing he wasn’t a threat to the officers life.

However, Van Dyke and all officers on duty that day gave the same supporting story, that was a lie, to say his life was in danger as McDonald raised his knife and lunged at the officer. The video proves all of this to be false and we are sure it will come out in the DOJ’s report.

However, these lies among police officers to protect one another no matter what seems to have a deep and historic tradition behind the Blue Wall. Nevertheless, the dirty laundry of Chicago’s police department are about to come to light…and hopefully it will bring down the dirty cops and politicians that support this madness.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel welcomes the DOJ to do an investigation, mainly because he has no choice. They are on the way and he has to pretend to be willing to play ball, but many in the City are hoping the investigation ends with his resignation or firing along with many other of the police officers and politicians involved.

We will keep a continuing eye on this story.
